Norwegian based producer Hi Tom today brings you his most forwarding thinking body of work by releasing his debut EP “u”, via Nina Las Vegas’ label NLV Records.

The five-track EP brings you four new emotively raw and powerful songs including the dynamic opening instrumental “RAMP UP”, RnB infused “Vi” featuring Luvocean, the uptempo & harder hitting “Fine”, a second melodic collaboration with Luvocean “Off”, and the experimental and intriguing “Melting”.

Similar to the sentiment in the single “Vi”, each new track represents a different exploration of the notion of love through Hi Tom’s profound production and musicality.

“u is an EP that explores the broad and dynamic affects that is created by love. “u” is all about noisy ballads, dreamy vocals, psychedelic guitars and hard hitting drums.”

Hi Tom’s forward thinking EP “u” is a result of time spent working on music late at night outside his day job. The first single from his debut EP “Vi” released in September, was a result of dusting off the guitar he had when he was 14, then recording and mixing the song with Luvocean in his home next to Barcode, Oslo. This process differed with “Off”, their second collaboration on the project, as the song started as a long distance project, sending bits of music and vocals back and forth. “Off” featuring Luvocean is about deterritorialisation of love, wanting to be close to that special someone, anywhere.

The instrumentals on “u” again embody different creative processes. “RAMP UP” dynamically uses guitars, vocals and synths to create an emotional landscape, but at the same time showing signs of hopelessness. “Fine” was based around warped vocal loops of youtube covers of well known songs, creating a coherent melody and feeling of delirium or confusion, emphasised by noisy, hard hitting drums. “Melting”, the final track on the EP “u”, taps into Hi Tom’s ability to make something beautifully experimental and intriguing, keeping you guessing from start to finish.

Throughout “u”, Hi Tom pushes the boundaries of emotional, yet club ready music by mixing a variety of sounds including acoustic guitar, warped vocal loops, noisy percussion and the smooth melodies of frequent collaborator, Luvocean.
